A former leading fashion model at 5'10'' in height, Carey was an a fan favorite of top American designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was an outstanding geologist who was in 1979 named Scientist of the year from the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey has traveled all over the world due to his profession. She started modeling part time when she was a student at college at University of Colorado and caught the attention of a representative for the Ford model Agency in New York. Her move to France in the year 1980, and lived briefly in Paris and Bordeaux before deciding to return home to New York to continue with her college education and modeling career. She soon began being featured on the cover of Vogue, Glamour, etc. While modeling, she also attended New York University full-time to obtain a degree in literature. After graduation, in New York she began to pursue acting. Her part was a minor one of Club Paradise with Robin Williams in 1986. When she is not working she likes to ski or windsurfing. She also enjoys climbing mountains and whitewater river rafting.
